Finding 2.5 hours is a big ask.
I wouldn’t dream of making it if I didn’t think there was crazy disproportionate ROI, and I’m not sure there’s a better way to spend 2.5 hours than to build the skeleton of your internal system.
If you’ve already got an internal system - and by that I mean a way to manage the North Star goal you’re working towards, the projects that will push you towards that goal, the tasks that will push those projects towards completion, a way to capture and sort all the ideas / articles / insights that pop up through the day, and a way to wrap it all up into a weekly report, then you’re fine. But, if that doesn’t sound like the thing you’ve got - if you live and die by a task list, or just fly by the seat of your pants - I’m just not sure that’s sufficient for starting a company. There’s too much stuff you need to hold in your head.
A good system gets everything out of your head so you can be in the moment. It’s your tool, and it’s worth thought and maintenance. The Mise En Place idea from Work Clean.
A good system let’s you approach this like a pro, not an amateur.
I think PARA is the most approachable system, and this is the best tutorial to build your own. I use Notion, and I think that’s the most approachable tool for this.
Now, you can buy templates where this thing is already built. But I’ve suggested those in the past to people and since learned they don’t work. You need to go through the process of building the thing so that you understand how it works.
This guy is sometimes hard to follow, you’ll need to pause and rewind a bunch, and midway through you’ll almost certainly ask the question “wait.. is this Australian guy actually a robot? Is that an AI talking?” Let me know if you figure it out, because it stumped me. But, he’s the best I’ve seen and if you watch the ~70 minute video and follow along - again, it’ll take you 2.5 hours probably - you’ll have a system.
